About Donating

Endowment Explained

Donations to the Foundation are endowed, which means they are permanently invested for long-term growth. This is the power of endowment: your initial gift grows through investment to provide ongoing support, forever.

Earnings from your gift provide ongoing support to charitable activities.

Approximately 3.5% of the earnings are disbursed and about 1% is allocated to administrative costs (including investment-related expenses).

Creating an Endowment Fund

Creating an endowment fund is surprisingly affordable and within the financial reach of many people.

With an investment of $10,000, you can create a fully operational fund. That means annual granting can begin immediately.

The Foundation can also give you time – up to 10 years – to build up your fund to $10,000. Your fund is known as an emerging fund until it reaches the $10,000 target. Once the fund reaches $10,000 granting can begin.

Fund Agreements

Foundation staff will create and send you a sample fund agreement you can discuss with your advisor. The agreement will document the purpose of the fund, how disbursements will be made and any other details relevant to the individual fund.
