| Grants Awarded in
2008
The Battle River Community Foundation was
able to grant a total of $233,755 to community projects during 2008.
The total will grow in the years ahead, as community support
continues and the Foundation's assets build. Grants given during
2008 include:
Grants from Community Fund and Anonymous
Donor
The Community Fund is an undesignated fund that gives responsibility
for selecting grant recipients to the Battle River Community
Foundation grants committee and board. This is the most flexible
fund, making it possible for the Foundation to respond to emerging
charitable needs, as well as supporting areas of philanthropy that
include health, education, arts, the environment, and social
services. Donors who contribute $10,000 or more may establish funds
within the Community Fund in the name of their choosing.
Support from an anonymous donor again this year has allowed the
support of a wide range of philanthropic causes in the community.
This support has been used together with income from the endowment
funds to meet local needs, as has a generous donation from Anthony
Hladun and Deanne Morrow. |
