How To Apply

The Battle River Community Foundation is pleased to be offering our 2025 grant applicants the ability to apply via a digital application. When you click the apply button, you will be taken to an external website. Here you will be asked to complete a user and organization profile before being granted access to the online application. The deadline to fill out your grant application has changed this year from August 15 to June 16, 2025.

As always, grants are made on an annual basis only to organizations recognized as “Qualified Donees” by the Canada Revenue Agency. This includes registered charities, school divisions, and municipalities. If you are not certain if you qualify, please contact us.

Non-Qualified Donees may partner with a Qualified Donee for a joint project. In this case, there will be additional information about the project partnership and the project partners to be provided. As before, you will be asked to fill out a Declaration of Affiliation form which, along with other information listed below, must be uploaded to the application.

Organizations seeking funds must demonstrate a strong and committed volunteer board of directors, fiscal responsibility, and effective management of resources. Partnerships and collaboration are encouraged. Projects that impact the largest number of individuals possible with a modest investment of funds are preferred. In general, grants are approved for needs not met by other funding sources and are not intended to be a primary source of ongoing operating costs, or of major capital projects.

Again, the deadline for grant applications has changed from August 15 to June 16 for 2025. Should the application be successful, the Qualified Donee will need to fill out a Grant Agreement, which will also be hosted on the application website, before receiving funds. Funds are generally distributed to successful applicants in the Fall.

In addition to the Declaration of Affiliation, if required, each applicant should also be ready to upload a:

  • List of Board Members/Municipal Staff
  • Detailed budget for the project, including both costs and revenues
  • Copy of financial statement from last year

At the conclusion of each funded project, the Community Foundation will expect to receive a Follow Up report accounting for the use of the funds received. This evaluation will involve a number of questions to help to determine the success of the project and will also be hosted on the new website.

NEW Application Deadline: June 16, 2025
