Since its establishment in 1996, over $7,900,000 has been granted to charities and municipalities that serve residents of our region which are encouraged to consider the Foundation as a source of funding for projects and activities related to education, health and well-being, arts and culture, recreation, environmental welfare, and more.

Rudy and Flora Baker Scholarship in Medicine
The Battle River Community Foundation awarded the 2020 Rudy and Flora Baker Scholarship in Medicine to Allyson Wrubleski of Camrose.
Battle River Community Foundation retired Director Debbie Orcheski presents the $2,600 scholarship to Allyson Wrubleski .
The scholarship is from income from the Rudy and Flora Baker Scholarship in Medicine Fund. The Fund was established from the Estate of Rudy Baker. The scholarship is available to a student who has graduated from a high school in the Battle River School Division in program leading to becoming a physician.
Allyson Wrubleski is in the final year of an MD program at the University of Alberta. She is one of 14 students from throughout the region who has received assistance from this scholarship since it was first awarded in 2005. She says receiving the scholarship, which have been used for tuition and books have allowed her to focus on studies and not finances.
